Okay, so I can't find anything online except that there is a Cruise Expansion Project, but the Port at St. Maarten is new. The old one is still there, but the new one is about 1/2 mile away from the old one, and the new one isn't in the "heart" of the beach/shopping area. But we walked to the beach and it was fine....just a little hike. There is a new boardwalk along the entire beach and new fancy shops. If you go away from the beach about 1 block, all the old touristy t-shirt shops are still there, and the tiny little street too.
When you're first walking into the new boardwalk area, there is this little canal that goes around, and this cute bridge over it. I saw a couple of little boats docked on the side too. We stopped at the first empty beach chair/umbrella spot pretty much. This are of the beach is newer along with the new shops, etc (Jon and I were there in Jan 2002 and this stuff wasn't there). The sand on this end is still full of sea shells...so pretty sharp. Gpa and I walked all the way to the end of this beach, and around the time we got to where the "old" port is, the sand is nice and soft.
Some crazy lady hung her animals in the window...and then everyone else decided to do the same thing too!
After a day at the beach...(our last one actually, waaahhhh!)
I think this was Cream of Mango soup...
(someone's flash must have been going off at the same time...)
Last towel animal
We didn't know it, but Garth Brooks (lookalike) was on our boat...and sang to us the last night
When we wake up, it will be San Juan (I juanna stay!)
